I'm Boris and I created Claude Code. Lots of people have asked how I use Claude Code, so I wanted to show off my setup a bit. My setup might be surprisingly vanilla! Claude Code works great out of the box, so I personally don't customize it much. There is no one correct way to use Claude Code: we intentionally build it in a way that you can use it, customize it, and hack it however you like. Each person on the Claude Code team uses it very differently. So, here goes.

Mac pfctl Port Forwarding - Sal Ferrarello

#macos | Historically, I used ipfw from the command line to do port forwarding on my Mac. Unfortunately, as of Yosemite OS X 10.10 ipfw has been removed. (In all fairness, ipfw has been deprecated for some time but I continued using it because it was way easier than pfctl on the command line). Command Line pfctl […]

Designing For Print With CSS — Smashing Magazine

#coding:css | If you mention printing with CSS to many people who work on the web, [print style sheets](https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2013/03/08/tips-and-tricks-for-print-style-sheets/) are the use that comes to mind. We are all well used to creating a style sheet that is called upon when a web document is printed. These style sheets ensure that the print version is legible and that we don’t cause a user to print out huge images.

From inboxing to thought showers: how business bullshit took over

#writing | One thing continued to puzzle me: why was it that so many people were paid to do this kind of empty work. One reason that David Graeber gives, in his book The Utopia of Rules, is rampant bureaucracy: there are more forms to be filled in, procedures to be followed and standards to be complied with than ever. Today, bureaucracy comes cloaked in the language of change. Organisations are full of people whose job is to create change for no real reason.

The Technium: 1,000 True Fans

#article | 1,000 true fans is an alternative path to success other than stardom. Instead of trying to reach the narrow and unlikely peaks of platinum bestseller hits, blockbusters, and celebrity status, you can aim for direct connection with a thousand true fans. On your way, no matter how many fans you actually succeed in gaining, you’ll be surrounded not by faddish infatuation, but by genuine and true appreciation. It’s a much saner destiny to hope for. And you are much more likely to actually arrive there.

The Utter Uselessness of Job Interviews - NYTimes.com

#article | The key psychological insight here is that people have no trouble turning any information into a coherent narrative. This is true when, as in the case of my friend, the information (i.e., her tardiness) is incorrect. And this is true, as in our experiments, when the information is random. People can’t help seeing signals, even in noise.
